Community Rules

Last updated October 19, 2026

Leengwa brings together people from every country, culture and faith to talk and learn languages. That only works if everyone feels safe and welcome. These rules apply everywhere on Leengwa: rooms, room chat, private messages, posts, profiles and usernames.

Respect everyone

Never insult, mock or make fun of anyone because of who they are. That includes their:

  • Ethnicity, race, skin colour or nationality
  • Religion or beliefs, or having no religion
  • Gender or sexual orientation
  • Disability, health or appearance
  • Culture, traditions, accent or the language they speak

This counts as a "joke" too. Slurs, stereotypes, offensive nicknames and memes that put a group of people down are not allowed.

No trolling or provoking

  • Don't join rooms just to disrupt them, start fights or get a reaction.
  • Don't make noise, play sounds, or talk over others on purpose.
  • Don't spam the chat, flood it with emojis or repeat the same message.
  • Don't follow someone from room to room or keep messaging them after they've asked you to stop.

Be kind to learners

Everyone here is learning. Never laugh at someone's mistakes, accent or level. If you want to help, correct gently and only when they're happy for you to.

Disagree respectfully

Debates and different opinions are welcome, including about religion, politics and culture. Talk about ideas, not the person. Insulting someone's faith, country or people is never part of a debate.

Keep it safe

  • No sexual content, and nothing inappropriate involving minors.
  • No threats, violence or encouraging anyone to harm themselves or others.
  • Don't share anyone's private information, photos or recordings without their permission.
  • No scams, advertising, or pretending to be someone else, including staff.
  • One account per person. Don't make a new account to get around a ban.

If something goes wrong

Don't answer insults with insults. Use Report on the message or profile, or Block the person. Our moderators review every report. Room hosts can also remove people from their rooms.

What happens if you break the rules

Depending on how serious it is, you may get a warning, be muted, be removed from rooms, be suspended from rooms, or have your account banned, for a while or permanently. Hate speech, threats and anything involving minors can lead to an immediate permanent ban, without a warning first.

These rules are part of our Terms of Service. If you think a decision about your account was a mistake, contact us.
